From the very start of MeshCore, meshcore.co.uk has been the central resource for helping people get started with MeshCore.
The original website design was inspired by a childhood dream of mine: sending small text messages over radio. You may remember the little radio masts in the mountains, based on a real location where I love to conduct radio experiments!
Back then there was no internet as we know it today, and certainly no instant messaging or SMS between the fairly rudimentary analogue mobile phones of the time. The idea that ordinary people could build their own messaging network felt almost futuristic.
Fast forward to 2026 and we have more connectivity than we could ever have imagined. Yet strangely, much of it feels increasingly dependent on the internet and large centralised systems. In some ways, that feels more precarious than ever and my old dream of a self-built text messaging network has surfaced again.
Anyway, enough nostalgia, on to what's been happening around here!
A Simpler Way To Set Up MeshCore Devices
One of the biggest recent additions to the website has been the new MeshCore Configurator.
The original flash tool by Recrof has been instrumental in helping thousands of users get started with MeshCore, and the new MeshCore Configurator builds on that idea to make setting up MeshCore devices even easier through a guided experience.
If you have not tried it yet, head over to meshcore.co.uk and click "Set Up Your Device".
From there, simply:
- Pick your device from a clear list with pictures
- Choose the role you want the device to perform
- Click "Install Firmware"
And that's it.
Once installed, you can connect to any MeshCore app and continue setup there, or carry out basic configuration directly in the configurator itself including:
- Username
- Radio settings
- Bluetooth PIN
- Basic device setup
The idea is simple: make getting started with MeshCore easier than ever, especially for new users.

These guides are designed to make onboarding easier and help new users get up and running quickly without needing deep technical knowledge.
You do not need to be a radio expert or hardcore tech nerd to enjoy MeshCore.
